We work with a range of highly skilled and experienced specialist practitioners to develop and lead the School Roots programme, always ensuring that the experience and learning opportunities offered are of the highest quality… and most of all fun!

Each of our sessions are adaptable to working in smaller groups with children most in need. This includes those new to speaking English or new to the country, those with home life disruptions, behaviour problems or other difficulties, our sessions support young people’s social and emotional needs.

OUR OFFERS

Our sessions aim to engage children with nature through thoughtfully-structured creative activities, blending creativity with core subjects and supporting the development of an inquisitive mind.

Each workshop is based on a central theme and every session also explores how children can build a positive and sustainable relationship with the natural world around them. Workshops are designed to encourage cross-curricular learning in conjunction with the Foundation Stage, KS1 and KS2 curriculum frameworks.

We are also experienced Arts Award Advisers in Discover, Explore, Bronze, Silver and Gold. Get in touch if you’d like to discuss how we can embed Arts Award into your session.

EXPLORING BEES WORKSHOPS

The following workshops are available to book as part of our offer for the Spring / Summer term. The sessions are all based on exploring bees, their habitats and their importance to the ecosystem.

The topic of ‘Exploring Bees’ is offered through 3 different workshops, each focusing on a different artform – dance, visual art and music. Each workshop tells the story of bees, whilst connecting children to nature and developing their environmental awareness.

In order to prepare for leading the ‘Exploring Bees’ workshops, all of the artists have worked closely with a beekeeper to get a first-hand insight into a working hive and to learn about the bee colony. They have also gained knowledge from an Entomologist (an expert in insects) to learn more about pollinators and their function.

For all of our workshops, we supply all of the specialist materials and equipment needed to deliver the sessions. We only require basic classroom resources, such as pencils and paper, to be provided by the school.
